After an initial career in both financial and general management within large corporates, John founded Playfair Partnerships in 1992 to provide cost-effective outsourced business turnaround and strategic financial management services to the SME sector, giving the owner-manager access to a range of skills, previously unavailable to them.
John has a strong track record in turning around businesses facing severe financial difficulty, and his first assignment was helping a family-owned business deal with debt, poor trading and stakeholder issues. Following a successful conclusion of this, and many more assignments, John is a firm believer in working in partnership – both within the team and with the clients to achieve the best result. This is why Playfair Partnerships have developed a proactive and integrated outsourced approach, which allows our clients affordable access to the level and volume of the resources they need.
John focusses on the strategic development of Playfair and leads the turnaround side of the business. He has wide-ranging sector experience including healthcare, retail, warehousing & distribution, construction, property, agriculture, manufacturing and engineering, as well as legal and other professional services. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and a Fellow of the Institute for Turnaround.
